Anger

imageA few months ago I was driving to the grocery store. It was late and I knew they were closing in 30 minutes. I needed to get almond milk and a few other things. The almond milk was priority though because of the protein shakes that I have each morning. I knew I was cutting it close but with no traffic, I should easily get there with plenty of time to spare. That didn't happen.I got stuck in traffic and missed getting to the store by 5 minutes. I don't know why, but I was furious. I was screaming in the car, yelling to nobody and wondering why God had not allowed me to get to the store so I could have my protein shake in the morning. Then after I got home, I proceeded to vent to Dawn about how my little almond milk world was interrupted by the traffic devil. It took me almost an hour to calm down.Life is funny sometimes. My little world was interrupted because of traffic and I couldn't have my little special protein shake for breakfast. How stupid is that?Have you ever gotten absolutely furious over something so trivial and small? What triggers us to get so upset over things that really don't have real importance in the grand scheme of our daily lives? The Bible talks a lot about anger.James 1:19 says "be slow to anger."Ephesians 4:26 says "in your anger, do not sin."The Bible doesn't say we can can't be angry. It just says we must remain in control of it so that it doesn't cause it to do harm to others or ourselves.I'm sure I'm going to be angry over something again very soon. It might be small or large but it will happen. My hope is that I remember this blog post and think to control my anger and understand that it usually isn't as bad as it seems. We're all in this great big life together. Let's be less angry about it.Do you have a story where you got angry over something small or trivial? Share it in the comments section or email me. I'd love to hear it.
